John Godden – President

John Godden built his first R-2000 home almost 3 decades ago and has been educating and challenging builders to raise the bar on building performance ever since then.

He is a leading rater and consultant for R-2000, ENERGY STAR, EnerGuide and LEED for Homes programs. John also, co-designed ENERGY STAR for New Homes workshops for builders and city building official advisors in Ontario. He regularly delivers seminars on air-tightness, better building practices, and green sales and marketing.

John is a member of OHBA, HRAI and CaGBC, LEED Canada for Homes Technical Committee. He is the president of Clearsphere, Canadian Residential Service Network (CRESNET) and founder of the Sustainable Housing Foundation. He developed the Green Builder Challenge – a program that has engaged builders to increase the performance of their homes, (350 homes to date) with a target to reduce energy consumption by at least 50 % from the IECC standard.

Paul Duffy, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.

Paul Duffy is Vice President of Engineering for Icynene Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Applied Science (1981) and Masters of Applied Science (1983) and specialized in Construction and Building Science. He is the Chair of the Spray Foam Coalition (SFC) and Chair of the SFC Research Committee for the American Chemistry Council – Center for the Polyurethanes Industry and is a sitting member of several Standards Committees. He is a Past President of the Ontario Building Envelope Council (OBEC) and Past President of the Canadian Residential Energy Services Network (CRESNET).  Before joining Icynene, he spent more than 20 years in the Consulting Engineering field, during which he, managed the R-2000 Program in Ontario for 4 years, did extensive work on Energy Star Certification of thousands of new homes, reviewed and managed the upgrading of hundreds of existing commercial buildings. He has been and continues to be an active contributor to Code changes both in Canada and the US. Paul is a founding Board member.

Peter Reynolds

Peter has been a Certified Energy Advisor since 2004 – rating approximately 250 EnerGuide for New Homes, 900 ENERGY STAR homes, certifying 30 R-2000 homes and performing 400 ecoENERGY audits in Ontario.  Prior to 2004, Peter had 20 years experience as a project manager for residential and commercial construction. He is a member of EnerQuality Corporation’s Evaluator Council, founding Board Director of CRESNET, and on the Energy Audit Program Advisory Committee for Durham College.

 

Mehmet Ferdiner

Mehmet has worked as an Energy Evaluator for Building Knowledge Canada located in Cambridge Ontario since 2012. Building Knowledge has been providing clients with leadership in environmental and energy efficient building practices for over 23 years.  Mehmet joined the Board in December 2015.

 

Michael White

 

Michael is a Certified Energy Evaluator and President of RGL Consultants. In this role Michael brings extensive experience to the company and quarterbacks the team by coordinating builders High Performance Housing planning. Michael is also the Energy Program Director and Lead Trainer for Nationwide Energy Advisors (NEA). In this capacity Michael trains new Advisors across the country to become Certified Energy Advisors.  Michael joined the Board in December 2015.

Brian L. Abbey

After completing his formal education he entered into an Apprenticeship in Architecture in June of 1965 and attended Art School and Technical College for  Building Design & Technology. He was accepted as a Probationer of the Royal Institute of British Architects in the same year and completed parts one and two of the Intermediate Examination by means of External Testimonies over the next three years. In 1978 he became a Senior Surveying Technician by satisfying the admission requirements and becoming an Associate Member of the Society of Surveying Technicians.

Upon arrival to Canada in 1981 he applied for membership to Construction Specifications Canada and he currently serves on the Executive Committee in the capacity of Architectural and Student Liaison Officer. In addition he became an accredited Member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario and served on the Governing Council and was AATO President from 2009 to 2011 and he is now the AATO’s College and Faculty Liaison Representative as well as the Immediate Past President.

In addition Brian has become an active member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA), the Ontario Building Envelope Council (OBEC), The Ontario Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) and the Ontario Association of Applied Architectural Sciences (OAAAS).

Having reached the pinnacle of his career he has chosen to get involved as much as possible and share his wealth of experiences with others and most particularly the younger members and students in the profession of Architecture and those in other diverse disciplines within the construction industry. He frequently lectures at community colleges on the benefit of association membership and also sits on five Program Advisory Committees (PAC) at Centennial, Georgian, Sheridan, Humber and George Brown College; he is the current Chair of the PAC at George Brown & Sheridan Colleges. Brian joined the Board in December 2014.

John Bell

VICE-PRESIDENT, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, GREYTER WATER SYSTEMS

John-Bell-Vice-President-Business-DevelopmentGreyter Water Systems offers smart solutions that save money by reducing the water and waste water demands of commercial and residential buildings by up to 35%.

John has been actively involved in the water conservation and greywater recycling industry since 2009. As a sustainable renovator and energy evaluator, Bell has worked in the construction industry for nearly a decade, project managing renovations and new builds. A former sports broadcaster, Bell has over a decade of television experience, which included hosting World’s Greenest Homes, which featured some of the most sustainable builds around the world (HGTV Canada/Daily Planet Green U.S.A). John is regularly sought out as a featured speaker at conferences and trade shows such as the North America Water Reuse Conference, Sustainability Applied, OCWA Technology Showcase and the Ontario Home Builders Association.  John joined the Board in December 2014.

Antony is an Independent Energy Evaluator working in the Toronto region.
